Urbana City Schools vision is to ensure that our students are able to demonstrate a mastery of predetermined outcomes in the humanities as well as in the academic areas of mathematics, language/communications, science, reading, technical skills and problem solving. Urbana City Schools Curriculum supports this vision through its planned content, materials, resources, activities, and instructional strategies.
Urbana City Schools initiatives include Project Based Learning, Literacy Collaborative Framework, the Ohio Improvement Process, ALEKS- Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces, and PBIS- Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports. Dr. Willoughby began her teaching career in Baltimore City Schools, Maryland, where she taught first and second grade. Dr. Willoughby's second teaching position was in Jackson Center Local Schools in Ohio, where she taught fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Her first elementary principal position was at New Knoxville Local Schools. Since 2011, she has served as principal at Urbana City Schools in kindergarten, first, third, and fourth grades. In 2018, Dr. Willoughby became Director of Curriculum for Urbana City Schools.
She is a graduate of The Ohio State University, Bowling Green State University, and Concordia of Chicago. Her professional licensure areas include Superintendent, Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development Administrative Specialist, Principal Pre-K-9, and Teaching K-8. Dr. Willoughby is a member of OAESA, OAEASA Professional Development Committee, and Delta Kappa Gamma.
