Leaf

Mrs. Vaughn’s first-grade students are celebrating the fall season through reading and hands-on art activities. Students read Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert, a picture book that uses colorful leaves to create imaginative shapes and figures.

Inspired by the story, students created their own leaf art, using natural materials to design unique pictures and explore their creativity. The activity connected literacy and art while encouraging students to observe the shapes, colors and textures found in fall leaves.

Through the project, students are building reading connections and expressing their ideas creatively while learning about the seasonal changes happening around them.
