Through this hands-on experience, students worked with local industry mentors from the City of Urbana and Sutphen to design and build a bridge using a limited set of materials. The challenge tested students’ engineering, problem solving and design skills as they considered strength, cost, efficiency and material use.

By applying classroom learning to a real world manufacturing challenge, students gained valuable experience and insight into the skills needed in today’s workforce.
