Urbana Elementary students celebrated Dolly Day 9 to 5 on September 25 with a day focused on reading, learning, and fun literacy activities.
The celebration followed a proclamation from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jim Tressel declaring September 25, 2026, as Dolly Parton Day in Ohio in recognition of her life, legacy, and commitment to children and literacy.
Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio, more than one million children across all 88 Ohio counties have received a free, age-appropriate book each month since the program began statewide in 2019.
Students enjoyed books and activities throughout the day while celebrating the joy and importance of reading.
